Consider this:

Setting up and keeping up a website is a time consuming enterprise. Promoting it on the web even more so. Let's say you really put your heart into it, and many hours of your valuable spare time. If you provided your readers with high quality content, and gave them wonderful free stuff to download as well, you'd expect them to be glad, wouldn't you? And just suppose that they are, would you think they'd let you in on it? No they won't! Not even 1 in 1000 visitors makes the effort to let you know they appreciate what you did! So why not be that happy exception and say thanks, or send a pic if you've used somebody's free patterns????!!! One generous lady that has such a high quality content website is Jessica Tromp. She offers countless free knitting charts, patterns, crochet and more. And in addition she helps you out if you're badly in need of knitting help too! So: hooray for Jessica, and all the others that make the internet a wonderful place!!!
The above sweater is done from one of Jessica's hello Kitty knitting charts. Kitty fans: don't miss her adorable hello Kitty felt toy pattern.

Hi, just saw your tutorial on the silk shoes. They are adorable. Thanks. I have no small children, so will not likely be making them, but who knows. I made need to make a cute gift sometime.

For my Dutch readers: the wallpaper I bought at Brenda Baart.com. She's a Dutch interior designer, the retro-wallpaper is from her grandfather's vast collection. She has gorgeous stuff, but I'm not sure she ships abroad.

First - I love your blog!!

About your concideration: I guess this is just how internet is. You find lots of fine stuff - save it or print it out - in a hurry to try it out or rush on to the next challenge - and don't even think twice about the person making it available.

I have had a pattern out for free for some time now and I have gotten just a few comments even though I can see (in my hit counter) that tha page has had hundreds of visitors.

Thanks Ohelene! I guess I was just trying to say : go ahead! Make that difference! Might just be that people are a little hesitant because they're shy, or maybe they just don't realize how much positive feedback is appreciated. As for me, sometimes that one person in a thousand REALLY makes my day :))
